The Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship finale is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the championship’s history as three drivers (from three different teams) arrive with a shot at the title.
Elite Motorsport’s Tom Gamble leads the way with a 42-point advantage over HHC Motorsport’s Seb Priaulx and with 55 points in hand over Douglas Motorsport’s Daniel Harper. However, as with all things Ginetta Juniors, a trio of races means there’s still all to play for in terms of the title.
Gamble has the most wins (with eight to Priaulx’s six and Harper’s five) and made history at Silverstone as he became the first ever driver to claim victory in all three junior races in one weekend. Despite his points advantage, you can be sure to see a closely fought battle for the championship between the trio.
Just behind them in the standings, Kiern Jewiss claimed the Rookie Championship last time out and still has a mathematical chance of finishing second or third overall. Only the championship top three have as many podium appearances as him, so keep an eye on the #87 car this weekend.
Tom Wood completes the top five with Harry King just behind. King put on a storming performance at Silverstone to finish second, and you can expect both drivers to be playing their part in the championship battle this weekend.
Rounding out the championship top 10, Adam Smalley, Jordan Collard and Ruben Del Sarte are all looking to pick up some champagne and silverware. Smalley and Del Sarte are currently second and third in the Rookie championship, but have Luke Browning and Tom Canning nipping at their heels; the former of who took a first and second fastest time in qualifying last time out.
Greg Johnson and Finley Green both enjoyed their best results of the season so far at Silverstone, with Green making his debut on the Rookie championship podium. Expect to see them racing hard with Charlie Digby and Matt Luff as the foursome squabble over 14th in the standings.
Completing the grid, Louis Foster, Emily Linscott and James Headley will also be looking to round out their part-seasons in style with some strong results in the season closer.
As any regular viewers of the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship will know, with three drivers in with a shot at the championship title, Brands Hatch is going to be one of the most action-packed weekends of the season.
